The Making of... Sonic the Hedgehog is a four-page retrospective feature on the development of Sonic the Hedgehog, published in issue #101 (September 2001) of the UK magazine Edge. Page one makes mention of the McDonalds line of LCD games released. Page two and three mention that rabbits, pandas, armadillos, and kangaroos, among other creatures were considered as the mascot character before the hedgehog was selected.
The scans below are from a reprinted version of the article, which appeared in a special "Retro" issue of Edge that compiled many of the magazine's previously-published Making Of articles. The original and reprinted versions of the article are identical, except that the reprinted version omitted the title's "Making Of..." prefix, and the original version showed an image of a Caterkiller instead of the reprint's picture of Sonic on a water slide.
