The first zone of Sonic Labyrinth, Labyrinth of the Sky, is a skybound area with a checkerboard floor pattern. Common obstacles are slick floor panels, which speed up movement but also makes it difficult to control, and conveyor belts. These features reappear in subsequent levels too; perhaps the most annoying hazards unique to the Labyrinth of the Sky are the glue-spitting Peppepe badniks, who make Sonic squelch to a halt before slowly trundling into the hedgehog to dislodge his keys.
