Prior to establishing Headcannon, Stealth had spent many years developing several video game and utility projects as a hobby.

In 2009, Stealth was approached by [[The Taxman]] and asked to aid in creating a pitch demo that eventually led to [[Sonic_the_Hedgehog_CD_(2011)|the 2011 re-release of Sonic CD]]. Stealth provided information gained and pseudo-code developed from reverse-engineering certain early gameplay elements, but wasn't involved in development once the project had officially begun.

After the re-release of Sonic CD, The Taxman had formed a better relationship with SEGA, and was therefore able to discuss bringing Stealth into the next project as a co-developer. Stealth registered Headcannon in November of 2012 in preparation, and after successful talks, the 2013 re-release of the original Sonic the Hedgehog for Android and iOS became the first game to be (co-)developed under the Headcannon name. This was immediately followed by the Android/iOS re-release of Sonic 2 in the same year.
