Crystal Egg Zone, the seventh zone in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (Game Gear), has weird bright colours mask the hardest stage in the game. The boss is a different story altogether, as it is almost entirely black. A bunch of spikes make an appearence here as expected, and it is a very suitable last level. You can only get here with all emeralds, else the game ends after beating Silver Sonic.
Instruction Manual Description
Rush through a land of sparkling crystal. Break through crystal blocks to find hidden treasure. Use a floating orb to sling you to higher ground.
Here you'll meet with Robotnik himself, in an arena he has prepared especially for you...
