Chip is a small red dog-like creature with wings like those of a dragon who appears in Sonic Unleashed. He helps Sonic in somewhat the same way that the Chao did in the Sonic Adventure series. In Sonic Unleashed he loses his memory after Sonic lands on him after leaping from Dr Eggman's spaceship. He then follows Sonic on his journey in the hopes of regaining his memory.
