Sonic Adventure 2: Trial Version, not to be confused Sonic Adventure 2: The Trial, is a trial version of Sonic Adventure 2 for the Sega Dreamcast. It was given to select Japanese stores during early 2001. It was dumped and released on 2013-05-21.
Sonic Adventure 2: Trial Version is dated 2001-05-03 - 26 days before the build date of the final Japanese release of the game (2001-05-29). Consequently, most of the differences are merely superficial, for example, there is a slightly different title screen and much of the game is simply closed off to the general public.
Unlike Sonic Adventure 2: The Trial, which saw a more widespread release, Trial Version includes Puru Puru Pack support, different textures, different titles, two-player mode (Sonic and Shadow being playable), and a full motion video clip of Sonic Adventure 2[1].
Curiously, the back cover of the box misprints Sonic's name.
