Interceptors are large, hovering badniks that chase after Sonic during day stages. They are sometimes referred to as mini-bosses. Interceptors' attack patterns vary between different versions of the game.
Wii/PS2 Version
In Wii and PS2 versions, Interceptors try to run over Sonic using the wheels at the ends of their arms (this can be avoided by quick-stepping). In addition, they only appear in Apotos and Eggmanland, and the day boss music plays when they appear. Interceptors in this version can be defeated by being hit with a Sonic Boost five times. When they overtake Sonic and the camera moves behind them, they will be vulnerable for a short period of time.
360/PS3 Version
In the 360 and PS3 versions of Sonic Unleashed, Interceptors have three attacks. Their main attack consists of a laser that can be dodged by quick-stepping. They can also pound the ground causing a shock wave that Sonic must jump over, and if Sonic falls too far behind, the they can use a punching attack to knock him forward. Interceptors in this version appear in Dragon Road Act 1, Skyscraper Scamper Act 1, Jungle Joyride Act 1, and Savannah Citadel Act 5.
