Invincibility is a power-up found in most Sonic games, which is obtained by breaking a monitor. It temporarily protects the player from harm, as well as allowing him/her to destroy most enemies simply by touching them. While the player is immune to most traps and attacks, it is still possible to be killed by being crushed, drowning or falling off the level. While invincible, the player is surrounded by a sparkling effect which varies in appearance from game to game.
