City Escape is the first stage in the Hero storyline of Sonic Adventure 2 and the first stage playable by Sonic. It corresponds to Sonic's escape and subsequent run through the city to escape the GUN military which is tracking him down.

City Escape is a city themed level, based on parts of San Francisco, where Sonic Team USA is located.
Other level specific objects and billboards scattered amongst the level.
Walkthrough
Sonic first begins by dropping from above to “road surf” down a way of steep streets. It's a very linear path, though there are some cars that won’t hurt Sonic but will considerably slow him down.

- Beetle Series: Mono Beetle, Gun Beetle (Hard Mode), Gun Wing Beetle (Hard Mode), Spark Beetle, Spring Beetle, Gold Beetle
- Hunter Series: Gun Hunter, Shield Hunter (Hard Mode)

Big the Cat
When running from the GUN truck, Big can be seen along the right side of the last stretch of road before the bridge, panicking and then being ran over.
Chao containers
Gold Beetle
The Gold Beetle can be found after the first long stretch of handrails. In Hard Mode it switches locations, an exception to the rule, and can be found at the beginning of the second long stretch of handrails.
