Here’s an analogy for you: You get on a roller coaster. Everybody’s been talking about how great this particular roller coaster is, and you’re very excited to get on it. As the ride starts, you sit back and marvel at how smoothly the roller coaster glides along the tracks, at the remarkable atmosphere, and at the fun, entertaining nature of it all. There are ups and downs, but it’s expected; after all, it can’t all be a smooth, lazy ride, can it. But somewhere around the halfway point of the ride, something changes: instead of a gliding motion, the roller coaster starts jerking and jolting, and as time passes, the jolting becomes a wild bucking. The roller coaster careens around the track, literally taking your breath away. The ups and downs have become longer and steeper, but all of a sudden, there are no ups, only downs: down, level off, down, level off, down, level off, down. Your kidneys smash together like stones, your lungs heave for oxygen, and your stomach knots over so many times that it resembles the Christmas lights when you pull them out of the box - the ones you untangle all half-assed, and then decide that the tree looks fine without them. And then the roller coaster drops down so quickly the blood in your body pools into your head and your face is pulled back so you resemble a character in those cartoons you used to find so funny. Not funny now, is it?

Here, you realize with growing unease that the track no longer swings back up: it’s a straight shot all the way into the ground. As the g-forces slowly rip your face apart, red spots begin to appear in front of your eyes. You feel weightless, and as the lack of oxygen starts affecting your consciousness you fondly think of the time, years ago, when you wanted to be an astronaut. That is, until you learned that astronauts had to learn a shitload of technical stuff and undergo rigorous training - another dream shattered like so much ice. Suddenly, in a moment of clarity you notice that everyone else on the roller coaster seems to be enjoying the ride. They let out yells of joy (at least, when they can exhale), put their hands in the air (resulting in their limbs being ripped from their sockets), and their eyes shine with delight (before the capillaries burst and blind them). The guy sitting next to you struggles to put his skinless hand on your shoulder, but ends up giving you a weak nudge. He smiles reassuringly. Then again, it’s hard to tell if he’s smiling: his lips have been torn away, and he’s bleeding out of his nose and ears. But the sparkle in his crimson eyes tells you he’s having the time of his life - at least, until they burst, spilling blood and vitreous fluid onto his shirt. The cursed roller coaster screams downward, smashing into the ground at Mach 5 and drilling into the Earth’s crust. Jagged rocks scrape your skin away, but the pain is dulled because most of your neurons have ceased to convey information. In what seems like seconds, your surroundings heat up as you approach the Earth’s mantle. As your skin begins to roast and your bladder loses control, your last thought before oblivion is that you will never, '''ever''' do this again.
