Kogen joined the Sonic Retro (formerly known as Simon Wai's Sonic 2 Beta Page) forum in 2004 after finding it linked on the website Sonic CulT, some time in 2003. Kogen became interested in the Sonic fan community in 2003 after discovering the emulator Gens, just in time to see the series degrade rapidly. Kogen only became an active poster at Sonic Retro in 2007, when the member JJFTails told him to join the IRC chat room. The soul mate of Kogen, Tweaker, then encouraged him various times to continue posting, which keeps Kogen active as both a forum member and as a mentally stable person.
