The first of these, a thirty page treatment titled "Sonic: The Movie", was written by Pen Dansham and Richard B. Lewis on November 11, 1994. This treatment reimagined Sonic as a teenage boy named Jimmy Hedgeman who could transform into Sonic following a laboratory accident. Robotnik was reimagined as Dr. Paul Elleson, a bio engineering mad scientist who lived on a remote South American island with his mutant creations. Dr. Elleson, who is given the nickname Robotnik by Jimmy/Sonic, has an evil plan to turn the Earth's population into mutants by polluting the planet's water supply. Based on Sega's notes, the treatment was confusing and not funny, and the treatment was scrapped.
