Sonic 1 - Text Code Generator (or simply S1TCG) is a text editing tool created by Selbi. With this tool you can edit and generate any kind of text for Sonic 1 (originally just for Title Cards, then changed). It was designed for the Hivebrain June 2005 disassembly ^(info) (1,016 kB), but with some digging it's also working for the SVN version. Because it was written in Visual Basic 2008 you will need .NET Framework v2.0 or better (v3.0 is recommended).

Level Select Text generator (for references, releated to level select text)
Level Select Text editor (for directly editing the misc\menutext.bin)
Header generating tool (the thing your emulator shows)

The help windows are there as a replacement for a readme.txt.

Planned features

Some things which are planned, but cannot be made (yet):
