Mecha Sonic in Sonic 1 is a Proof of Concept hack of Sonic 1 which the player plays as Mecha Sonic. The controls are same as stock Sonic 1, with the addition of a Spin Dash. Each sprite has been edited, collisions etc have also been edited to compensate Mecha Sonic. However, there are some areas that Mecha Sonic cannot fit, prime examples in Marble Zone and Labyrinth Zone.
