Mariko Nanba, born June 28, 1971, in Chiba prefecture, Japan, is a composer for Wave Master best known for her work with the Sonic the Hedgehog series' music. Her interest in music started at age 4, when she began piano lessons. From there, she attended Tokyo Conservatoire Shobi (college of music) and in 1994, sent a demo tape to the SEGA Digital Media department. She was hired, and worked on her first game, Panic.

Nanba enjoys drinking coffee and beer and eating soba—one of her favorite hobbies is having a nice dinner ("to enjoy delicious foods!") Her favorite musician is Burt Bacharach, and some favorite games include MOTHER 2, Kowloon's Gate, AZEL Panzer Dragoon Saga and Space Channel 5.
