An executable is a file containing the binary representation of machine instructions of a specific processor, and usually some amount of data. In Windows and DOS, executables are recognised by their file extension .EXE. Games and other programs are usually executables, often with ancillary files or DLLs. On the Macintosh, .BIN files are executable.
