− | In 1889, Fusajiro Yamauchi established the Marufuku Company to manufacture and distribute Japanese playing cards. In 1951, Yamauchi changed the name of Marufuku Co. Ltd. to Nintendo, a term that means "leave luck to heaven". In 1978, Nintendo released "Othello", it's first arcade game, and in 1980, Minoru Arakawa opened Nintendo of America. Later on, "[[Donkey Kong]]" and the [[Famicom]] would be released. Years later, they would release products in America such as the [[NES]], [[SNES]], [[Gameboy]], [[Virtual Boy]], [[Nintendo 64]] and [[Nintendo GameCube]]. Their flagship mascot is [[Mario]], a fat Italian plumber carpenter.
