Nintendo's first console system, made in 1984 in Japan. Also known as the Nintendo Entertainment System or NES in non-Japanese regions.
The Famicom was gold and red colored, used a top loading system, and the controllers could not be removed, whereas the NES was white/grey and black, and used a front loading system, which was very prone to failure.
There was, however, a NES model 2 that used the top loading design.
