Hoaxing
From Sonic Retro
Hoaxing is the practice of falsifying media. In Sonic fandom, it usually refers to the creation of fake game screenshots. It was first popularized by SoStH, then by hoaxers such as Knux Five. Although hoaxing has lost the "fad" status it held in the late 90s, it has been kept alive by sites such as Sonic Vegemite and The Moogle Cavern.
