SeanieB is a member of the Sonic scene. He maintains Sonic Retro's web server, a position that contributed to his being promoted to an Administrator of said site in July of 2012.

He has gone back and forth between different sites, finally settling at Sonic Retro. His history in the Sonic scene was virtually nonexistent until 2008, but he slowly gained a reputation (whether or not this is good or bad is up for debate, according to some). He has historically had relatively few posts on the Retro forums, as he was more present in community Skype conferences with other Retro members and in the Sonic Retro IRC channel.

He provides hosting for the library of Sonic game ROMs, SonAR.

History

Beginnings

Getting his first retro game consoles rather late in the cycle, in around 1998, SeanieB received a Sega Mega Drive/Genesis and the some old Sonic games, slowly expanding his collection to include a Dreamcast, a Sega CD, and for a very short time a Sega Saturn. Becoming more and more interested after acquiring a PC (containing the PC version of Sonic CD as a pack-in) months after the introduction of the Genesis, he began to read some Sonic related boards online, though it is unknown which ones.

A couple of years later, SeanieB found the site Simon Wai's Sonic 2 Beta, a forerunner of Sonic Retro, which kindled his interest in the internal workings of the Sonic games. Learning more and more about computers, around the release of Sonic Adventure 2, he dropped off to pursue more interests in computers. Due to random boredom slightly before his return to the "scene" as a whole, he created a few small unreleased Sonic hacks for simple experimentation. However, he has not, as of yet participated in any community/community released hacking projects.

In early 2008, SeanieB registered for the first time to a Sonic community, namely Sonic Retro. He would make a few posts before being flamed and scared away. This led him to reconsider his place in the scene. He later joined the Sonic Stuff Research Group forums in order to try and establish his "home" in the scene.

The SSRG era

When first joining the SSRG forums, SeanieB believed that the forum was in disrepair and in a definite slump. Due to it being summer and having the vacation time that it entailed, he quickly used his 20 validation posts; and, with a small amount of general agitation among a few users and with a small delay, he was finally validated on his second account on the SSRG (his original account had been forgotten by the administrative staff).

Soon, he began to gain recognition on the forum and participated in frequent discussions with board administrator Qjimbo, who was also trying to restore the near dead SSRG. They frequently discussed ideas to improve the site, most of which are in use on the site to this day.

Meanwhile, on the forums, new members were causing a lot of friction. SeanieB was banned once, unbanned and the drama mounted to the breaking point; Tweaker's infamous "social experimentation" in the forum of an engineered forum meltdown was to follow. With Qjimbo being away on vacation, the forum descended into chaos. SeanieB was unfortunately in the middle of a massive debate between Tweaker and several others, causing a large amount of heated argument which resulted in Tweaker's eventual ban. He benignly posted a topic asking for a little break from the drama, and was subsequently banned.

Although Qjimbo restored him to membership a few of times, resistance from other members of staff ledto SeanieB being moved into SSRG's "rejects" group, where he remains to this day with no will to return to active discussion on the forums.

Return to Retro

A couple of months after the fallout, SeanieB was approached by Tweaker and encouraged to become active on Sonic Retro's forums after many months of absence. After considering this offer, SeanieB was bumped from his long standing trial membership to normal member status. This encouraged him to become slightly more involved with Retro, albeit more through other mediums like Skype conferences and the Retro IRC channel.

Today

Today SeanieB maintains a great interest in Sonic, among other things. He is currently self-employed as a contractor for technical work mostly involving information technology, and he hangs out online during his spare time. He is hoping to, at some point, have substantial enough time to pursue ROM hacking.

In late July of 2012, SeanieB was promoted to an Administrator of Sonic Retro, after having already provided technical support for some time for Sonic Retro's web server.
