Point W, called Unknown and F-Zone elsewhere in the game, is the eighth level in Sonic Rush. The stage is just one big boss battle. Both Eggmans attack in a large flying mecha as the characters battle from a falling piece of debris from Dead Line.

Boss Battle

The boss mecha has several main attacks. The first being where it tries to smash the player with one arm at a time. Players must dodge the falling arm and avoid the resultant shockwaves from its impact. At random points, the mecha will prepare a stronger smashing attack with both arms. Failure to dodge this attack results in an insta-kill due to being crushed.

After one impact from the stronger attack, or varying impacts from the one armed attacks, the arm(s) will be stuck in place, and be vulnerable to player attack. This is when the mecha will go to the right side of the platform and continuously ram it with one arm, causing more shockwaves. Once enough of these are dodged, the arm can be attacked, and will then be stuck to the platform. This gives the players the opportunity to run up the stuck arm and attack the cockpit, thus damaging the boss.

However, there are several hazards on the way to the cockpit. The mecha will try to shake off the player, which can be averted by standing still and holding Down on the D-Pad. It will also fire tire shaped projectiles to damage the player. The time allotted to reach the cockpit decreases the more the mecha is damaged. If the player is unable to make it to the cockpit, they will be shaken off of the arm, and must try again. After three failures, the mecha leaves the area and returns to its standard attack patterns.

After a couple of hits, the boss will attack the player with a sweeping laser that must simply be dodged. After six hits, it will attack with one or multiple floating projectiles that shoot electric lines. The player must avoid contact with these electric discharges in order to not be damaged. This is quite important because if during any part of the initial phase, the player avoids being damaged during any of the standard attacks, the boss rewards the player for "good behavior", and goes to the stage where it can be damaged.

When the boss is down to one remaining hit, it stops all attacks, as the Eggman piloting declares a death sentence for the player. "Pinch Mode" is then activated, as the mecha will attempt to break the platform by ramming into it from the background. At this point, the player must jump at the cockpit to deliver the final blow and win the battle. Failure to do so results in the platform breaking and the player being insta-killed due to falling.
