Sonic the Hedgehog 4

From Sonic Retro

Revision as of 13:35, 26 February 2011 by MathUser (talk | contribs) (Episode II)

Suggestion; might it be a good idea to have a page named Project Needlemouse (which deals with all this promotion / development fan-baiting), and then a spereate page named Sonic the Hedgehog 4 for... well, the stuff we usually put on a main game page?

I mean, most of the stuff that's on here now will inevitably end up on [[Game Development: Sonic the Hedgehog 4]] anyway. Frozen Nitrogen 11:50, 4 February 2010 (UTC)

Alternately, we could just restrict work on the Sonic 4 page and make everyone just write on Game Development:Sonic 4. - Scarred Sun 18:51, 4 February 2010 (UTC)

I have a quick question regarding the zone naming of "Splash Hill." Do we have a confirmed source that this is indeed the level we saw in the teaser/trailer?--Ddrmaxromance 16:48, 10 February 2010 (UTC)

I heard the name somewhere before Sega started revealing things. It was either that or "Level 1" or "GENERIC TROPICAL LEVEL". Either way things will probably be changed when the game is released so consider it a placeholder... I guess -Black Squirrel 17:43, 10 February 2010 (UTC)

I heard said rumor too (along with E.G.G. Station), but I think it unwise to perpetuate it without any real proof. Frozen Nitrogen 20:01, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
Just to add something to this, that was the same source that revealed the title was Sonic 4 and was episodic a week before confirmation, amiright? True Dude 21:28, 10 February 2010 (UTC)

Advertising and Marketing

With the contests out of the way (as far as we know, unless Sega wants to pull another one), perhaps we should move the marketing contests to a page such as Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Advertisements and Marketing? We should also, eventually, move the concept art to the game development page when the time is right. - Enzo Aquarius 21:23, 17 February 2010 (UTC)

Should this be protected?

There's apparently been a Cease & Desist; I'm not sure it's safe to leave this editable. The last thing we need is a cause for any more trouble. Wouldn't it be wise to protect it until release? --Afti 03:36, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

Splitting Stuff Around

Considering the huge length of the current Sonic 4 article, I think that we need to look into doing something with it. Couldn't we cut down a lot of the current Sonic the Hedgehog 4 article and seperate it into a Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode I page. Looking above, it seems that a lot of stuff was going to be put into [[Game Development: Sonic the Hedgehog 4]] anyway. Perhaps we could start some of this work now? SOTI 18:15, 8 October 2010 (CDT)

I have vague memories that Tweaker roid-raged about the prospect of splitting S4 up into by-episode pages, so I wouldn't recommend an "Ep1" split. If you want to shift the competitions and leak drama and prerelease shots to Game Development, though, go for it. Frozen Nitrogen (Talk) 19:08, 8 October 2010 (CDT)
Most of the stuff belongs on the game development page so I moved it.--MUser 08:23, 11 October 2010 (CDT)

Criticism

There desperately needs to be citations of professional criticism or else I'm removing the block for NPOV reasons. This is not a sounding board of opinions. This is a fact-based website. - Scarred Sun 12:20, 15 October 2010 (CDT)

Would professional reviews of Sonic 4 do the trick? I assume not, but a few have definitely sounded on the physics side, which seems to be the main point of criticism now. The model issue could also be brought up, although I don't really care what model Sonic is using. He could be dressed up as a Motobug and I'd still play it. SOTI 12:26, 15 October 2010 (CDT)
The part about it not being a true sequel for having speed boosters was removable I think. That's mostly old school fans talking. --MUser 12:59, 15 October 2010 (CDT)

Episode II

Since discussion for Episode II has started, perhaps we need to look at making the Sonic 4 page somehow "global" to all episodes with short information, along with seperate pages for each episodes. Some people might prefer everything on one page, but they're still separate games in any case. We could also look at modifying the Sonic 4 template to suit this, like some sort of tab which switches between episodes? SOTI 12:34, 26 February 2011 (UTC)

Didn't I point out before that Tweaker veto-ed the idea? Frozen Nitrogen (Talk) 17:10, 26 February 2011 (UTC)
We don't even know if they will connect somehow by sharing save files. They may wind up being standalone games where you have to collect the Chaos Emeralds all over again.--MathUser 17:35, 26 February 2011 (UTC)
