Cheat Codes have purpose

All the cheats I've seen in this and Sonic 1 point to the numbers meaning something, rather than being randomly generated.

The debug code is the NA release date. The code for the Proto Palace is the tracks of, in order:

  • Hidden Palace, the zone which is being temporarily moved in favor of Proto Palace
  • Oil Ocean, the level that would load after Hidden Palace
  • Proto Palace, the level that you're trying to unlock.
  • Mystic Cave, the level with the entrance to Hidden Palace.

With these relevancies between the numbers used for the codes and the game, I believe the Emerald code has a meaning. Not sure WHAT, though.

04, 01, 02, 06.

Well, two things that came to mind were April 1, 1926, and April 12, 2006. ...Unfortunately, I found nothing. ...These numbers have to mean something.

The Bible. Genesis 41:26.
"The seven good kine are seven years; and the seven good ears are seven years: the dream is one."
Either the best coincidence I've ever seen, or...

That'd be quite a coincidence.--MathUser 00:10, 7 August 2014 (UTC)

Hidden Monitors randomly generated

I have no proof of this, but I believe the "hidden" layout is actually randomly generated. Supporting evidence is the versus mode debug monitor, which can be one of a multitude of items.

Also, Eggman monitors do not appear in Emerald Hill normally.
