The Special Stage in Sonic Generations uses the same concept as the Sonic Heroes Special Stage, where Modern Sonic runs through a half-pipe and collects balls scattered along the pipes while dodging bombs. The amount is counted at the end, and if you have enough you move on to the next segment. If you pass all the segments, you will earn a Chaos Emerald.
