When starting a game three gameplay modes appear: Mission, Combat, and Race. During the Mission portion the objective seems to be to find a key in each level to unlock the exit. The Combat mode is one or two players. In Combat mode collectable items can be found which may be used in battle against the opponent or to destroy crates. The items include grenades, firecrackers, homing rockets, and mines. The Combat mode area is small and has 4 sub-zones. The Race mode involves the player going along a seemingly endless track. It has been compared to the first level of ''[[Sonic Adventure 2: Battle]]''.

Gameplay

Both Sonic and Shadow are playable. The player must navigate the level while riding a hoverboard. It is possible to rotate the character while airborne, but landing incorrectly can result in the player falling off the board. It's possible to balance on the side of platforms, but when doing so a balance meter will appear and the player must keep from tipping. Rails can be found throughout the level. Turbo boost panels can be used to increase your speed temporarily.

It has been compared to the first level of Sonic Adventure 2: Battle.
