Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is a live-action film featuring Sonic the Hedgehog, and the sequel to the 2020 Sonic the Hedgehog film. The film and its release date was announced on February 10, 2021^[1]. Ben Schwartz and Jim Carrey have been confirmed to reprise their roles as Sonic and Dr. Robotnik, respectively.

According to various sources, the film will feature the return of Tails in a prominent role, as well as the debut appearance of Knuckles the Echidna, initially as a secondary antagonist.

After settling in Green Hills, Sonic is ready for more freedom, and Tom and Maddie agree to leave him home while they go on vacation. But, no sooner are they gone, when Dr. Robotnik comes back, this time with a new partner, Knuckles, in search for an emerald that has the power to both build and destroy civilizations. Sonic teams up with his own sidekick, Tails, and together they embark on a journey to find the emerald before it falls into the wrong hands.
