The infamous "spike behavior" is still present in this prototype.

There are no score cards, just an ending jingle similar to earlier prototypes.

There are no capsules when defeating bosses. The clear jingle plays at some point after Eggman escapes and the camera scrolls to the right, then the next Zone begins.

Tails

Final game

Arguably Tails has regressed since his appearance in the Simon Wai prototype. Tails continues to have no discernible AI, simply copying the player's movements with a delay. That is to say, unlike the final game he doesn't follow Sonic at all.

Final game

Unlike the Simon Wai prototype, this alpha build does not keep trying to return Tails to Sonic's position. While this means he won't keep dropping out of the sky, he is likely to get stuck somewhere at the beginning of the stage and never be seen again. Some circumstances will see Tails re-appear, but it's not common. If too far from the viewport, Tails is effectively deactivated like other objects in the game, though can still be heard.

Final game

Unlike the Simon Wai protoype, Tails can drown in this build, triggering the countdown music (which is erroneously mapped to the Death Egg Zone track here) as he starts to run out of air. If Tails does drown, the game will think Sonic has drowned instead, locking the screen and ending the game unless Sonic kills himself. Sonic can drown after Tails has drowned.
