Stories
Story one
Dr. Starline recalls a conversation he had with Dr. Eggman early into the Metal Virus plague. He asked Eggman a question about his methods, "why all the theme parks?" To which Eggman responded "I like theme parks." Starline questions this because it's not very practical. Eggman tells him he doesn't settle for the world as is, he wants to make it what he wants it to be. Eggman's words are still inspiring Starline now as he prepares to take over the Eggman Empire. He proclaims that tonight is the end of Eggman's futile war with Sonic. Starline Surge and Kit storm into the Eggperial City. They take out every Badnik in their way.
Meanwhile, Orbot and Cubot sneak back into the base after their vacation in Sonic the Hedgehog 040 (IDW). Eggman asks where they had been, and Orbot lies, saying they were doing reconnaissance. Eggman doesn't really care and tells them to log back into the network and get him a sitrep. He's been getting reports that Sonic and Tails are here. After Orbot pulls up the visuals they quickly realize it's some other people. Eggman decides to send Metal Sonic out to fight them anyway. Surge starts to get cocky with how easy it is to take out the cheap Badniks, then quickly gets slammed into the wall by Metal. The fight with the metal menace got a little crazy, but Surge and Kit managed to take it out with their teamwork. Eggman got annoyed watching how they treated Metal. Sonic's victories are bad enough but at least he shows some respect. His attention soon turns to Starline as Cubot pointed out he logged in. Starline now begins the next phase of his plan, taking control of the entire Badnik army through the EggNet. Even Orbot and Cubot are under his control. Eggman quickly gets away before he could be captured by his robots. Starline sits on the throne of his new empire, awaiting the inevitable arrival of Sonic and Tails. Orbot informs him that Eggman escaped to his personal memorial garage, where his old mechs are on display. Starline doesn't think too much of it, while Surge and Kit discuss what they'll do when Sonic and Tails arrive.
