  Having played a minor role in stopping Eggman from the original Sonic Robo Blast, he returns to put Eggman out of commission once and for all. While he lacks Sonic's speed, he is faster than Tails and retains his climbing and gliding skill. His jump is lower, but he can break rocks by merely touching them, and in multiplayer he can fire faster than any other character.

==Hyper Sonic==

An unlockable in the game, Hyper Sonic plays exactly like Super Sonic, with the exception that his Thok has the same effect as Hyper Sonic's in Sonic 3 & Knuckles.  When used, all enemies on screen will be destroyed.    This is a secret exclusive to the 1.09 beta series, and ''will not be included in later releases of SRB2.''

SRB2's Match multiplayer mode is a game where players shoot rings at each other in order to score points.  The player with the most points wins.  The shields that are available for Single Player are all fully functional here, and can help the player with their added effects.  Also, there are 5 special rings that the player can collect to power up their firing.  These rings can be combined to make a more powerful weapon when used.

 +
*Rail - a [[Wikipedia:hitscan|hitscan]] weapon - you can use this to snipe away players from across the stage, or else make a very precise shot.
 +
*Auto - similar to a machine gun, this weapon tosses out rings incredibly quickly, making it difficult for players to dodge; however, it eats up ammunition just as quickly.
 +
*Bounce - this ring behaves mostly like a normal ring, except it will bounce off of walls instead of dissipating. Good for area denial, particularly in tight spaces.
 +
*Spread - shoots out five rings instead of one, shaped in a plus formation, which gradually spread out as they go farther. If it hits an opponent very close to the firing player, the opponent will be shot back farther than usual.
 +
*Grenade - drops little bombs on the ground which detonate if enemies get too close. Good for area denial.

===Capture The Flag===
Capture the Flag is similar to Team Match in terms of teaming and playing.  In this game, however, the players run between bases and try to take the flag from the opponents' base to their own. What makes SRB2's CTF mode somewhat unique is that a team can only capture their opponents' flag if their own team's flag is in their base.  This forces cooperation from both sides in order to secure victory.

===Circuit Race===

===Circuit Race===
Circuit Race is exactly that.  SRB2 has a bunch of maps that the player races around for a few laps.  First person to finish all the laps wins.  Important in Circuit is that all checkpoints must be touched  before the player can complete a lap.  If one is missed, the player must go back, hit it, and proceed forward.  This is made less cumbersome by level designers who use a function to make the entire area around a checkpoint activate it.  All of SRB2's vanilla levels have this.

===Co-op===
SRB2 has a functional Co-op mode.  Co-op is played in all the SP levels.  Co-op is designed to let players explore the SP levels together, get used to playing them, and finding secrets.  It should be noted that this is often abused on SRB2's Master Server, and spending too long in levels is frowned upon, and can even wind up with the host of the game banned.

Sonic Robo Blast 2
Latest version: 2.0
Latest release date: Jul 24, 2009
Engine: Doom Legacy
Credits: Sonic Team Junior

Sonic Robo Blast 2 is a fan game developed by Sonic Team Junior for Windows and DOS platforms. The game is a 3D platformer using the Doom Legacy game engine meant to emulate many of the elements of the classic Sonic series. The reason it is popular among fans is the addition of online multiplayer, as well as the ability to make characters, zones, and whole game modifications.

Storyline

Months after Eggman's defeat in Sonic Robo Blast 1, Dr. Eggman took an interest in harnessing the Black Rock's energy. After claiming it as his own battleship, Eggman chose Greenflower City as his first target for obliteration.

Sonic was enjoying a long overdue vacation when Tails alerted him of the danger. Sonic gazed at the giant battleship aimed toward Greenflower, and had already bolted towards it in a blink of an eye. Even though Sonic rushed to save Greenflower City as quickly as possible, it was already a pile of ashes by the time he arrived. Now, after a quick reunion with the evil doctor, Sonic and Co. journeys off to another quest to save the world from Dr. Eggman.

Playable characters

Sonic the Hedgehog

SRB2 Sonic Art.png
The blue streak returns again, ready to tackle Eggman and his robots. Definitely the quickest of all the three, but also the least versatile. He will find several areas inaccesible and must find new routes around them. That's not to say he's not learned anything since last time. He has a special 'Air Spin Attack' move, allowing him to shoot forwards at high speeds, aiding him in longer jumps and giving him automatic acceleration.

Miles "Tails" Prower

SRB2 Tails Art.png
Having missed his first chance to help Sonic back in Sonic Robo Blast I, he is more than ready to assist Sonic this time around. While nowhere near as fast as Sonic, he has his flying ability, which will help him over longer jumps and reach new areas.

Knuckles the Echidna

SRB2 Knux Art.png
Having played a minor role in stopping Eggman from the original Sonic Robo Blast, he returns to put Eggman out of commission once and for all. While he lacks Sonic's speed, he is faster than Tails and retains his climbing and gliding skill. His jump is lower, but he can break rocks by merely touching them, and in multiplayer he can fire faster than any other character.

DR. EGGMAN

Watch out! The evil doctor is back to wreak havoc upon the planet and make Sonic & co.'s lives miserable! He won't stop at anything to achieve his ultimate goal.

Single Player Levels

Greenflower Zone

Greenflower Zone (abbreviated GFZ) is the first zone. It is stylistically very similar to Green Hill Zone, and is a very basic starting stage, for players to get the grasp of the controls and gameplay mechanisms.

Techno Hill Zone

Techno Hill Zone (abbreviated THZ) is the second zone in the game, with Eggman's factory. Water here is replaced with slime, which will damage the players.

Deep Sea Zone

Deep Sea Zone (abbreviated DSZ) is the third zone in the stage. Placing a lot of emphasis on puzzles, players work their way through flooded catacombs, stopping every so often for air.

Castle Eggman Zone

Castle Eggman Zone (abbreviated CEZ) is the fourth zone in the game. Set in a rainy canyon, the player makes their way to the castle in the first act, while working through strong rivers and spooky caverns. In the second (unfinished) act, the player makes their way through the castle itself, and its various tricks and traps.

Arid Canyon Zone

Arid Canyon Zone (abbreviated ACZ) is the fifth zone in the game, set in a vast desert a la the Wild West. Players must navigate the treacherous footholds, catch rides on rope pulleys, slip around on oil, and avoid sinking into quicksand in order to clear the stage.

Red Volcano Zone

Red Volcano Zone (abbreviated ERZ) is the sixth zone in the game. Lava is everywhere, so players must work their way forward on precarious footholds which could give out at any moment, and avoid rapidly rising lava in many spots.

Egg Rock Zone

Egg Rock Zone (abbreviated ERZ) is the final zone in the game. Similar to many final zones, various unique obstacles will impede progress in this bizarre space station.

Multiplayer Play

Along with traditional Single Player play, SRB2 features a fully functional online mode. There are a few types of games that can be played with this.

Match

SRB2's Match multiplayer mode is a game where players shoot rings at each other in order to score points. The player with the most points wins. The shields that are available for Single Player are all fully functional here, and can help the player with their added effects. Also, there are many weapon rings that the player can collect to power up their firing, including:

  • Rail - a hitscan weapon - you can use this to snipe away players from across the stage, or else make a very precise shot.
  • Auto - similar to a machine gun, this weapon tosses out rings incredibly quickly, making it difficult for players to dodge; however, it eats up ammunition just as quickly.
  • Bounce - this ring behaves mostly like a normal ring, except it will bounce off of walls instead of dissipating. Good for area denial, particularly in tight spaces.
  • Spread - shoots out five rings instead of one, shaped in a plus formation, which gradually spread out as they go farther. If it hits an opponent very close to the firing player, the opponent will be shot back farther than usual.
  • Grenade - drops little bombs on the ground which detonate if enemies get too close. Good for area denial.
  • Bomb - behaves like a normal ring, but will detonate when it hits a wall, hitting anyone within its blast radius; similar to most game implementations of rocket launchers.

Team Match

SRB2's Team Match is a multiplayer mode similar to Match, with the difference that 2 teams compete, and the team with the higher amount of points wins.

Capture The Flag

Capture the Flag is similar to Team Match in terms of teaming and playing. In this game, however, the players run between bases and try to take the flag from the opponents' base to their own. It is very similar to CTF in other popular games, such as Unreal Tournament.

Race

First person to the end of the stage wins. Race mode works for all of the SP maps in the game.

Circuit Race

Used on specific Circuit stages. As in Race, first person to finish all the laps wins. Important in Circuit is that all checkpoints must be touched before the player can complete a lap. If one is missed, the player must go back, hit it, and proceed forward.

Co-op

SRB2 has a functional Co-op mode. Co-op is played in all the SP levels. Co-op is designed to let players explore the SP levels together, get used to playing them, and finding secrets. It should be noted that this is often abused on SRB2's Master Server to host role-playing servers; as such, spending abnormally long times in levels is frowned upon, and can even wind up with the host of the game banned.
