The Sonic R prototype is an early demo version of Sonic R, dated 10th Sept. 1997 (the final release date was 18th Nov. 1997). It was released by drx on 23rd Feb. 2008. The demo features three levels - Resort Island, Radical City and Reactive Factory - which are selected via a simple menu system. There are five playable characters - Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy, as well as Dr. Eggman who is selectable from the start. There is also a two-player versus mode and time attack.
