These are cheat codes which can be accessed by inputting button sequences or by various other methods.

Play as the same Character in VS mode: Hold ++ while selecting a character.
Unlock Tails Doll: Collect all 5 Sonic Tokens on Radical City and finish in the top 3, then beat him in the challenge race.
Unlock Metal Knuckles: Collect all 5 Sonic Tokens on Reactive Factory and finish in the top 3, then beat him in the challenge race.
Unlock Egg Robo: Collect all 5 Sonic Tokens on Regal Ruins and finish in the top 3, then beat him in the challenge race.
Unlock Metal Sonic: Collect all 5 Sonic Tokens on Resort Island and finish in the top 3, then beat him in the challenge race.
Unlock Super Sonic: Collect all 7 Chaos Emeralds, then press on Sonic at the character select screen.
Unlock Radiant Emerald Bonus Course: Place 1st in the 4 initial courses.
Unlock Dr Robotnik: Place 1st on the Radiant Emerald Course.

These are cheat codes that can only be used with game enhancer devices. Support for these codes is available in most emulators.
