Sonic Prime is a 3D animated Netflix television series based on the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, produced by WildBrain in conjunction with Sega of America, Netflix and Man of Action Entertainment. The series is animated at WildBrain’s Vancouver studio, with Sega and WildBrain jointly participating across production, distribution and licensing, while Man of Action is brought on as showrunner and Executive Producer for the series. The series is set to premiere on Netflix in 2022.

Premise

In Sonic Prime, the action-packed adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog go into overdrive when a run-in with Dr. Eggman results in a literal universe-shattering event. Desperate to piece his prime reality back together and save his old friends, Sonic races through the Shatterverse, discovering strange worlds and enlisting new friends in an epic adventure of a lifetime! Slated for debut in winter 2022, the series is being animated at WildBrain’s Vancouver studio.[1]

Voice actors

Due to Canadian labour laws, it was not possible hire the characters' original English video game voice actors, whom are largely from the United States. The series producers were obligated to recast all the roles to a selection of local Canadian voice talents specifically for Sonic Prime.
