Cheat Codes

These are cheat codes for Sonic Mega Collection Plus which can be accessed by inputting button sequences or by various other methods.

PlayStation 2 and Xbox Versions

  • Change Screen Size: Press in the right joystick while playing to toggle the size of the screen. This is most noticeable on the the Game Gear games but will work on the Mega Drive games too.
  • Sonic 1 Version Select:
    • On the info screen that appears before you play the game, press the following buttons:
      • JP2 Version (default): Z, Z, Z, Z, Z, Z, Up, Down, Left, Right. (a chime will sound)
      • JP Version: Up, Down, Down, Down, Left, Right, Z. (a chime will sound, and JP will appear at the top-right of the screen)
      • US Version: Unknown
      • EU Version: Unknown

The Z button can be found and changed in the options menu that can be opened before you start the game.

Cheat Codes

  • Multiplayer in Game Gear: Two games, Sonic Drift and Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine have split-screen 2 player modes available. This is done by simply pressing Start on the second controller while the Game Gear game is running.

Unlockables

  • Hints: The unlock the Hints option found in the each games pause menu keep each game running for 3 hours. The game doesn't need to be played, just opened. After 3 hours exit out and then re-enter the game.

Games

It is only necessary to start a game and can be exited shortly afterwards. No actual gameplay is necessary. The game will only show up after the games menu is exited and re-entered.

  • Comic Zone: Have a save of Sonic Heroes or play the Genesis games 50 times.
  • The Ooze: Have a save of Sonic Heroes or unlock Knuckles in Sonic 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, Blue Sphere, and Flicky.
  • Blue Sphere: Play Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic 3D Blast 20 times each.
  • Knuckles in Sonic 2: Play Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Sonic Spinball 20 times each.
  • Sonic 3 & Knuckles: Play Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Sonic & Knuckles 20 times each.
  • Flicky: Play Dr Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine 30 times.
  • Ristar: Play Blue Sphere, Knuckles in Sonic 2, Sonic 3 and Knuckles, and Flicky 30 times each.
