Sonic Colours: Ultimate, spelled as Sonic Colors: Ultimate (ソニックカラーズ アルティメット) in North America and Japan, is a remastered port of the Wii version of Sonic Colours.

Changes from the original

The Jade Wisp, previously introduced in Team Sonic Racing, has retroactively been added to the game. When obtaining this Wisp, Sonic can use the Jade Ghost Color Power to phase through the terrain to access new areas and find hidden secrets.

The lives system has been removed entirely, and in its place are new items. One of these items is the Tails Save, which is represented by floating Tails heads. If the player has collected at least one of them, Tails will appear to rescue Sonic whenever he falls into a bottomless pit and drop him off at the last safe location, rather than restart from the beginning of the Act or a checkpoint. Another item added is the 100 Count Ring which, in addition to being worth 100 Rings, will grant temporary Invincibility.

Park Tokens have also been added, which can be collected in Acts or by achieving high-enough Ranks at the end of an Act (replacing the extra lives). These tokens can be used to customise Sonic's appearance at the Options Satellite, including his shoes, gloves, Boost and aura. These customisations do not affect cutscenes.

Rival Rush

Rival Rush is a brand new mode specially added to this version of the game. When 15 Red Star Rings have been collected in an Area, the player will be challenged to race against Metal Sonic in one of the Area's Acts, with rewards for beating him. There are a total of six Rival Rushes in the game, with one unlocked per Area.
