On the title screen, press Up Up Up Down Down Down 1 2 1 2 Start. This cannot be achieved in the Master System port of the game as there is no Start button on the controller, so instead set memory address D140 to FF on the title screen and press 1 to access it.

Build date

Similar to other games developed by Aspect, the game's build date can be located at ROM address $C0:

GG SONIC 96
      Ver E3 ROM
1996/05/01 @SEGA
/Aspect Co.,Ltd

This build date is wrong - it claims to be an E3 demo ROM, and was likely left unchanged during development as it is the same in all released prototypes of the game. The "910" prototype is bit-for-bit identical to the final game, so its final build date should be September 7th, 1996.

Cheat device codes

These are cheat codes that can only be used with game enhancer devices. Support for these codes is available in most emulators.
