Scrambled Egg Zone is the sixth zone in Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Due to the music of the stage (that is, the same tune that plays during the fox's capture in the opening sequence on the Game Gear version), this appears to be where Tails is hiding. This is a stage with some difficulty, but frustration ensues when you're dealing with the hundreds of thousands of assorted tubes in the stage. The boss of this level is none other than Mecha Sonic (referred to in the US manual as Silver Sonic). He is oddly easy to take down, which may be disappointing to some fans.

Location: South Island
Level theme: underground/cave

Gimmick Mt. Zone | Crystal Egg Zone

Scrambled Egg Zone is the sixth Zone in the 8-bit version of Sonic the Hedgehog 2. As with other Zones in this game, Scrambled Egg consists of two standard Acts followed by a shorter third Act which contains the Zone's boss.

Overview

Much like Gimmick Mt. Zone, Scrambled Egg appears to be another cavernous Zone for Sonic to venture through, built as a secret base by Dr. Eggman with many small lights blinking in the darkness. This Zone is perhaps the most difficult in the game, with its primary difficulty coming in the form of the dozens of assorted transport tubes in the stage, which are maze-like in execution. Most of them will lead to either earlier parts of the Zone, dead ends, or into spike pits.

The boss of this level is none other than Mecha Sonic (referred to in the US manual as Silver Sonic).

Quotes

Shoot through twisting, turning pipes that lead to traps or treasures. Use the D-Button to make turns of the junctions.

It is in this Zone that you come face to face with Robotnik's baddest creation, the (Mecha Sonic)! It has the Super Spin Attack and a bunch of dirty tricks to do to our hero. But does it have what it takes?

Note: If you have collected five Chaos Emeralds and manage to defeat the Mecha Sonic, it will relinquish the sixth Emerald to you. If you have less than five Emeralds, you will receive no further Chaos Emeralds for the rest of the game.
