Pata-Bata (パタバタ) is a Badnik found both in Sonic CD and in Chaotix. Between the two games Eggman seems to have upgraded the model from butterfly-wings to twin rotary engines. It is also known as the Hoverby Mk II in the US Chaotix manual.Media:Chaotix 32X US manual.pdf[1]

In Sonic CD the robots fly around in a zig-zag pattern, so be careful not to hit them on the way up from a spring, when Sonic is vulnerable. When broken down due to age, they fly slower and have a noticeable hole in their wings.

In Chaotix, Pata-Batas simply hover around in Speed Slider. As before they lack any actual weapons and so are mostly harmless; just take them out with a spin jump.

Pata-Batas also appear in the Wii U/PC version of Sonic Lost World where they can be found in Desert Ruins Zone 2. At certain points in the level where Sonic skydives, he must avoid multiple groups of six of these butterfly Badniks flying in circles as he cannot attack while skydiving. They have been redesigned with blue wings and orange highlights, two holes in each wing, and a silver metallic body with a visible abdomen.

Pata-Batas also make another appearance in Sonic Runners Adventure where they return to their design from Sonic CD. They are found in Green Hill.
