Like Bridge Zone, this Zone is also unique to the SMS/GG game. Set within a lush, green jungle filled with exotic plants as well as the troublesome Badniks, Sonic will have to get across a dark, limpid river by jumping across platforms and running along vine bridges. Throughout Act 1, Sonic can hop across logs that are cascading down waterfalls, and will even have to run along on rolling logs to cross the Chopper-infested waters.

The second Act sports an unusual type of level structure as the Act is built vertically rather than horizontally, where Sonic must climb up a giant waterfall by jumping from platform to platform. In the Master System version of the game, the player is not allowed to go back down the waterfall, and attempting to do so will cost a life. This does not apply to the Game Gear version as the player will just fall down to the lower levels, so it is safer to make mistakes.

This is the introductory level to the zone. You begin on a lower ledge of the left of the level, and most get to the right side. To do this, you must jump from ledge to ledge, pass behind waterfalls, and ride logs over streams. Swinging platforms help get you across large gaps.

Act One - Chaos Emerald - The Chaos emerald is located on a ledge in this level, which can only be reached by floating on a log in the water at the bottom of the level.

Jungle Zone is the third Zone in the 8-bit version of Sonic the Hedgehog. As with other Zones in this game, this Zone consists of two standard Acts followed by a shorter third Act which contains the Zone's boss.

Overview

Quotes

Wild flowers and exotic plants surround you in the damp, dark jungle. When you reach the turbulent waterfall, watch your step! One false move and you're gone for good!
