Character conception
Jet was conceived as a rival to Sonic the Hedgehog in the 2006 racing game, Sonic Riders. Jet is the second green bird with red shoes to be introduced to the Sonic series, following Bean the Dynamite in 1996's Sonic the Fighters.
Personality and traits
He is known as the "Legendary Wind Rider",[2] through his ability to accurately read the wind streams.[3] Jet believes that while Sonic may be the fastest thing on the ground, he is the fastest in the air due to his revered Extreme Gear skills. As with the other Babylon Rogues, Jet takes on an anti-hero role rather than a diabolical villain, attempting to make money by stealing treasure (not dissimilar to Rouge the Bat and Fang the Sniper). He always tries to never show any sign of weakness to anyone.[3]
Not only does Jet use his Type J Extreme Gear all the time, he also has used other devices to get what he wants. He holds the ancient "control box" that his ancestors have passed on for generations to each of the leaders of the Babylon Rogues.[4] He travels around the world in an air ship with the other rogues. He once used one of the Arks of the Cosmos to control the gravity around him.[5]
History
Origin of Jet
Jet was the next leader in line of the Babylon Rogues after taking over from his father. Like the other members of the group, he is the descendent of aliens who traveled to Earth through using the power of a black hole generated by the Arks of the Cosmos.[5] Overtime, the space ship that brought Jet's ancestors to Earth became known as Babylon Garden. Since Jet's people couldn't return home, they created Extreme Gear and became a band of legendary thieves. Jet, Wave and Storm continue the legacy of their ancestors as the new Babylon Rogues, their reputation precedes them. One day, Dr. Eggman decided to hire the Babylon Rogues to challenge Sonic and his friends in the EX World Grand Prix and collect the Chaos Emeralds. In reality, Eggman was using them to collect the treasure of the Babylonians for himself. Little did Eggman know, their treasure hidden in Babylon Garden was a "magic carpet" that was the prototype for the Extreme Gear. After this adventure, Jet's rivalry with Sonic continued onward. He is always ready to try and prove to Sonic his belief that he is the fastest creature in the air.[6]
Other appearances
Sir Lamorak of Sonic and the Black Knight is Jet's interdimensional counterpart in the Grand Kingdom.
Jet also appeared as a rival in the Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games series, starting with Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games where his challenge is the snowboard cross, his board looks just like Type J. Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games finally makes him playable as a guest character exclusive to Football in both versions of the game. Interestingly, he was planned to be playable in the first game.
Jet was added to Sonic Forces: Speed Battle as a playable character as of the v2.1.0 update released on July 10, 2018. Jet is also playable in Sonic Dash and Sonic Rumble. In Sonic Speed Simulator, Jet is playable along with having alternate costumes for Summer, Winter and a Racesuit. There is also a Chao in Sonic Speed Simulator that resembles Jet.
Jet was mentioned by Sonic in Sonic Frontiers when the architecture of the Ancients reminded him of Babylon Garden.

Sonic the Hedgehog (IDW comics)
After the Sonic Riders series Jet has continued leading the Babylon Rogues on treasure hunting missions. One time when the rogues were stealing jewels they accidentally grabbed Jewel the Beetle, who had to be rescued by Tangle the Lemur and Whisper the Wolf.[7] Later Jet and the rogues helped fight the zombots during the Metal Virus arc.[8] Then Jet encountered Whisper again while she was hunting one of Eggman's robots. One of her Wisps stole his food and he wanted it back.[9]
