Green Hill is the first level in Sonic 1, which just happens to be the first Sonic game. GHZ is full of greenery, and has many flowers. GHZ beta was apparently set at night (though one screenshot of the same place is at day) and had a WELCOME sign and a rolling ball. This rolling ball was eventually sheltered as Robotnik's wrecking ball.
GHZ has the infamous da-doo-da-doo-da-doo-da-da-doo music, which annoys many people who play fangames (like me =P). GHZ is followed by Marble, which for some reason uses part of GHZ's tiles.
There are some bizarre bumper-flower-things you can place in the ending with debug mode. There is also one pink flower.
GHZ is a very commonly hacked level, and is usually the level of choice for beggining hackers, since it uses relatively little tags and the tiles, for the most part, fit together.
