Green Hill, or Green Hill Zone, is a recurring level in the Sonic the Hedgehog series, usually set on South Island. As the first level of the first game, it quickly became synonymous with the Sonic brand itself. Its tropical island setting and checkered hillsides have inspired many other levels and locations in the series.
