Glyphic Canyon is the temple of the Black Arms and the name of a level in Shadow the Hedgehog.

Purpose

If Shadow steals the two Chaos Emeralds from Westopolis while ignoring everyone else, Black Doom sends Shadow to Glyphic Canyon for punishment. Shadow senses the yellow Chaos Emerald and tries to find it. After a short run into the stage, Shadow will come across Knuckles the Echinda, who wants shadow to help him 'get rid of these annoying aliens'. Still further into the stage Shadow is once again faced by Doom's Eye, and is instructed to touch the five jewels around the stage and reawaken the temple.

Appearance

Ancient ruins in the middle of nowhere, which poses the question of how G.U.N. and Knuckles got there so fast. Because of the age of this place (stated by Black Doom to be at least 2,000 years old), many parts of the structures are weak and pillars will fall around (and can be knocked over by) Shadow (sometimes spontainiously), and many smaller pillars, rocks, and walls can be broken with a punch from Shadow or Knuckles. Overall, the stage is covered in sand, probably tossed about by the numerous tornadoes in the stage. Scattered about are small torch structures, which can be broken to provide a wooden staff-like weapon, good for bashing over people's heads.

Missions

Other Versions

Eventually, Black Doom manages to activate all the Temple Jewels. This results in the flight of the Glyphic Canyon, now called Sky Troops. In Sky Troops, Shadow plunges into an assault between the Eggman Fleet and the Black Arms. It's your choice, be a traitor to Black Doom and help the Eggman Fleet? Assist the Black Arms in destroying the fleet? Or just getting to the flagship?
