As in Triple Trouble's predecessor, Sonic Chaos, our old friend Doctor Robotnik apparently thinks he's too important to face Sonic or Tails personally in this game. Instead the Doctor deploys larger, tougher, nastier badniks as boss robots.
The early part of Robotnik Winter Zone Act 3 requires you to climb up the slopes of an icy hill, all the while being forced to dodge skating Penguin Bomber badniks descending from the summit. At the top, we finally find the source of this stream of robots: the oddly named Giga Thomas "Pen", a giant, flying penguin head that spits the smaller badniks at you from the depths of its cavernous maw. Landing 8 hits will cause the boss' thrusters to fail, and he spirals away into the depths of a huge pit. This boss seems to be a larger version of a Bomblur.
After the boss, Knuckles shows up again to spring a similar trap as in Great Turquoise Zone.
