"Emerald Anniversary", known as "Taihou! 6 Chaos Emerald" (大混乱! 6カオスエメラルド) in Japan, is the 23rd episode in the first season of Sonic X.

Summary

The episode opens on a team of G.U.N. engineers, who have adapted one of Eggman's robots into a "Beetle" tank. Rouge and Topaz are spending the day downtown, admiring the gems in a nearby store. Nelson Thorndyke arrives to buy a ring to give to Lindsey Thorndyke, in celebration of their wedding anniversary...and ends up buying the purple Chaos Emerald. He has it set into a ring and leaves the store carrying it in a box. Rouge and Topaz pursue him stealthily.

Nelson calls Chris and asks him to come to the set of Lindsey's movie at Filmdom City. As he and his friends make preparations to leave, Tails notes that when they find another Chaos Emerald, it will react violently with the Emeralds they already have until it is given time to attune to them.

At Filmdom City, Nelson reveals his plan to Chris and his friends: to switch places with the lead actor during a take of Lindsey's movie, giving him a romantic setting in which to present her with the ring. He shows off the ring, causing the Emerald to glow and spark until the box is closed again. Eggman and Knuckles both see the bright light and head towards Filmdom City to get the Emerald.

Nelson's presentation falls flat when the ring sparks again and breaks the set and camera equipment, angering Lindsey. As they argue, Eggman arrives, and Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles lead him on a chase around movie sets resembling Jurassic Park, Star Wars, and Titanic. With Eggman seemingly distracted, Rouge snatches the anniversary ring, only for Eggman to return and steal it from her. Eggman unleashes his robot "Weazo" to distract Sonic and Knuckles as he flies away with the Emerald. They destroy Weazo handily, paying a visit to a Godzilla set in the process.

Though Eggman gets away with the Emerald, Chris' parents bury the hatchet and everyone wishes them a happy anniversary.
