When Sonic finally clears Eggman's other boss machines again, Sonic chases the doctor in a very familiar scene and Eggman leaps into his redone Giant Mech. The attack pattern is the same as before, with Eggman walking, flying, and even shooting his arms the same as in Sonic 2.

After the machine starts to malfunction with electricity flowing all over its body direct attacks will be useless. The boss also starts jumping at the player, leaving only small windows of opportunity to avoid him. The only way to attack this boss is to wait for Eggman to fire one of his arms (which also changes its trajectory now). After the arm flies at you, it will slowly descend and land on the playing field. Once it is on the field and the electricity around it has ceased, hit the arm a few times to fling it at the Mech, causing the Mech's electric field to suddenly shut down for a moment. That is when it is possible to attack him before the field restarts. After even more hits, he will start shooting lasers and firing small energy blasts.

There is also a final boss which closely resembles Eggman's Giant Mech from Sonic 2. The chief difference between this and the Sonic 2 battle is that the player is given the chance to earn Rings before the initial boss run.

In the console versions, there is a short cutscene showing Eggman retreating to his base in space, and Sonic travels to the base with a rocket that has Tails' symbol on it, which shows he presumably made it for Sonic to travel to the station. This cutscene is not in the PartnerNET build or iOS/Android version of the game.
After enough hits in Pinch Mode, the Mech will fly up again, only Eggman's target will fly around wildly and a warning siren will sound. Wait for the target to link to Sonic, then evade immediately. Eggman will fly down at full speed and smash the floor. If the player hits him before the floor crumbles, the fight will be over, and it will be possible to escape the Station. If the Station is not escaped from...it's a one-hit death move.

E.G.G. Station Zone is the fifth and final Zone of Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode I. It has only one Act with the title of Final Showdown in Space.

Overview

Taking place in a space station similar to Sonic the Hedgehog 2's Death Egg Zone, the level is a one-Act boss rush of the previous Sonic 4 bosses. Dr. Eggman puts the Lost Labyrinth Zone and Mad Gear Zone Bosses in Pinch Mode from the outset, but puts the Splash Hill Zone and Casino Street Zone Bosses in Pinch Mode only after the first time Sonic attacks them.
