The Cyclone (サイクロン) is Miles "Tails" Prower's multi-transforming mecha, first seen in Sonic Adventure 2. It can take the form of a walker (the standard configuration, used during the majority of Tails' levels), a jet called the Tornado III, and an automobile (used on Route 101).
The walker form features a guided laser mode (alike to that of E-102 in Sonic Adventure) and a single shot "Volkan Cannon" for destroying wooden crates. The center of the chassis also conceals a spring-loaded "Propeller Punch" for close combat. Upgrades available in the game include the Booster, a leg attachment for hovering, and the Bazooka, a Volkan Cannon enhancement to allow it to destroy metal crates. In the 2-player mode, additional weaponry is gained when a multiple of 20 Rings is obtained, such as a multi-shot laser, a heat-seeking Rocket Launcher, and a gigantic Power Laser. The latter two can be seen in Story Mode when fighting against Tails as Dr. Eggman for the second time.
The Cyclone is never featured as playable in the Tornado III setting; however, it is driven in automobile mode in Route 101, where it is shown to possess a boost function once a multiple of 20 Rings has been collected.
The Dreamcast version of Sonic Adventure 2 features an unlockable paint job that makes the Cyclone resemble the Tornado I when all of Tails' missions have been cleared, and additional Halloween and Christmas-themed paint jobs as VMU downloads. Sonic Adventure 2: Battle retains only the "Tornado I" paint job, and is unlocked when all of Tails' missions have been cleared with an A-Rank; when selected, the Cyclone can move much faster. These alternate paint jobs are only available in the 2P Battle mode.]
The following are the special attacks used by the Cyclone in Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic Adventure 2: Battle's multiplayer mode:
|Fires many Homing Missiles simultaneously.
|Fires 12 rockets upwards.
|Fires a super-size laser from the front.
Outside of Sonic Adventure 2, the Cyclone made a cameo appearance in Shadow the Hedgehog during the opening cutscene for Circus Park before crashing into the park and then later on, attached to Tails' spaceship in order for Shadow and Sonic to reach the Space Colony ARK.

In issue #21 of the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series by IDW Publishing, the Cyclone was stored in Tails' laboratory in Central City. When his lab was compromised by a horde of Zombots while he was synthesizing a cure for the Metal Virus, Tails hurried into the lab's storage and deployed the Cyclone in order to escape, utilising the mech's walker and automobile modes to provide cover for Tangle and Whisper so they can evacuate the survivors. Despite his best efforts however, the Zombots swarmed the Cyclone, forcing Tails to abandon it as it exploded beneath him.
