"Cosmic Eternity - Believe in Yourself"
Ending Theme, Sonic CD Japan and Europe
Album: Various
Arrangement by: Naofumi Hataya
Lyrics by: Casey Rankin
Vocals: Keiko Utoku

Cosmic Eternity - Believe in Yourself is the Ending Theme in the Japanese and European versions of Sonic the Hedgehog CD.

Releases

The extended version of this song is included in the following albums:

In the original Sonic CD game disc, this song can be located on track number 35.

Licensing Issues

In recent years, it has been speculated that licensing issues have arisen with the estate of the late Casey Rankin, which has impacted various rereleases of Sonic CD outside of Japan. In the Sonic Gems Collection rerelease, the European version was given the US soundtrack despite having the Japanese soundtrack in the original Mega-CD release, and in the 2011 remake, the lyrics in this song and Sonic - You Can Do Anything were removed and the songs replaced with instrumentals to the disappointment of fans.

Lyrics

Teleportation, yeah! Zah-boo-dah dah-dah
Teleportation, yeah! Shoo-bee-doo woo-yeh

In the end - Who's on your side?
Who can you trust - In the middle of the night?
Where will you be - If ya can't find you?
There's no place to go - Nothin' to do
If ya gotta do somethin' - You gotta do somethin'
Believe in yourself - Yourself - Yourself - Hey!

Extraordinary things can happen if you believe in yourself
You've got to have some faith in yourself if you want
Respect from your friends

Don't rearrange - No need to change
Stay like you are - Keep it all the same
But as you move along - In your life
Keep an open mind - And don't forget
That if ya gotta do somethin' - Gotta do somethin'
Believe in yourself - Yourself - Yourself - Hey!

Extraordinary things can happen if you believe in yourself
You've got to have some faith in yourself if you want
Respect from your friends

When you feel tight, look at yourself
Inside your heart you will find a special place to unwind
When you feel right, look at yourself
Inside your mind you will see cosmic eternity

When you feel tight, look at yourself
Inside your heart you will find a special place to unwind
When you feel right, look at yourself
Inside your mind you will see cosmic eternity

When you feel tight, look at yourself
Inside your heart you will find a special place to unwind
When you feel right, look at yourself
Inside your mind you will see cosmic eternity

When you feel tight, look at yourself
Inside your heart you will find a special place to unwind
When you feel right, look at yourself
Inside your mind you will see cosmic eternity

Errors

The official lyrics say that after "You've got to have some faith in yourself if you want respect from your friends" comes the line "Believe in what you want to do", but this line is not actually heard in any known version of the song.
