Found in the trees of Emerald Hill Zone, Coconuts (Aiai in the Japanese manual) launch coconuts (hence where they get their name from) at Sonic when he gets nearby, so when you jump towards them, they'll fire at you! Try passing under them so when they launch a coconut, they have to pause before reloading and then you can take them out.

In Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, Coconuts is a monkey-robot with a lightbulb on its head. He used to be one of Dr. Robotnik's more important and devious Sonic-hunting badniks, until Scratch and Grounder were created. This event lead to Coconuts being demoted to janitor of Robotnik's base. Hating this job entirely, Coconuts still makes an effort to capture Sonic to try and win Robotnik's favour, in hopes of being promoted again. Being the oldest and more experienced between himself, Scratch and Grounder, Coconuts is usually less prone to fall for most of Sonic's tricks his "brothers" would blindly step into.

CoconutsMedia:Sonic2 MD US SonicJam manual.pdf[1], called Aiai (アイアイ) in the Japanese manualMedia:Sonic2 MD JP SonicJam manual.pdf[2], is a monkey-like Badnik from the 16-bit version of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 found in Emerald Hill Zone. Coconuts launch coconuts (hence where they get their name from) at Sonic when he gets nearby, so when you jump towards them, they'll fire at you! Try passing under them so when they launch a coconut, they have to pause before reloading and then you can take them out.

The enemy reappeared in Sonic Blast's Green Hill Zone and Sonic Pocket Adventure's Neo South Island Zone. In both of these appearances, they have the same attack pattern as in Sonic 2.

In the Wii U/PC version of Sonic Lost World, Coconuts can be found in Tropical Coast Zone 4. This time, their coconuts will explode when thrown, but the player can kick them back at them to avoid damage, while knocking them down.
