Jungle Zone from Sonic the Hedgehog (8-bit) is an example of the jungle theme
Levels with the jungle theme feature swamps, trees, and vines. This theme first appeared in Jungle Zone in Sonic the Hedgehog (8-bit).
In many uses of this theme, the player is able to use the jungle environment in gameplay. For example, the player may be able to grind on vines (as in Frog Forest) or swing on them (as in Angel Island Zone). Navigating a dense jungle like the one in Mystic Ruins may also be a challenge to the player.
The jungle theme differs from the more sparsely vegetated environments represented by the tropical island theme. The environment plays a less integrated role in gameplay than with the jungle theme.
