Buton
Game: Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (8-bit)
A Buton in-game in Gimmick Mt. Zone

Buton (ブートン) is a variety of Badnik created by Dr. Eggman, encountered by Sonic in Gimmick Mountain Zone in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (8-bit). Bouncing pig-bots, Butons leap up and down in position, and directly towards Sonic if he happens to stroll nearby. Often found at the top of slopes, Butons clutch what appear to be rolling bombs (in the style of Ball Hogs), which military expediency suggests they should throw in order to explode the hedgehog. They do not. Butons can be dispatched easily with a spin attack.

Like other robots in 8-bit Sonic games, no animal friends pop out of Butons when they are destroyed. Whether these badniks canonically don't contain organic batteries, or the escaping critters simply weren't shown due to programming limitations, is not known.

Buton is very similar to (and essentially the 8-bit version of) the Ball Hog badnik from Sonic the Hedgehog (16-bit), apart from the former's baffling refusal to throw their bombs.
